Martin Lewis issues washing machine warning - ‘Don’t do this!’
Martin Lewis has urged everyone to help avoid the first electrical blackout in 50 years this winter
Martin Lewis has issued a washing machine warning as the risk of electrical blackouts continues to loom.
As bills continue to soar, households up and down the country will be looking at any way of reducing their energy usage.
While there are growing concerns of electrical blackouts this winter for the first time in 50 years.
And Mr Lewis believes that people can help avoid a blackout by not putting their washing machines on a certain time of the day.
"We are looking at energy difficulties this winter. We hope there will not be any blackouts."
The Money Saving Expert then added that the peak time for energy usage is typically between 4pm and 7pm.
He went on to say that people should work together to make sure that such a blackout didn’t happen.
One thing people can do, according to Mr Lewis, is not using high energy appliances such as washing machine between 4pm and 7pm.
Mr Lewis was then asked on ITV’s This Morning about whether people should swtich to economy-7 meters in a bid to save energy
To which he replied: "The rough rule of thumb is that you want storage heaters and 40 percent or more of your electric to be in overnight period to be worth while.
“If your house isn't set up to do that don't bother."
