Yorkshire-based YouTube star launches Christmas Number One bid with World Cup 2022 song - 'Bring that trophy home for Christmas!'
The festive tune was created in partnership with DJ and music producer Toddla T
A Yorkshire viral YouTube star is bidding for the Christmas Number One alongside victory for England in the World Cup.
After hitting top 10 in the charts with his charity Christmas single last year, Danny Malin of ‘Rate My Takeaway’ is spreading some Christmas cheer with his new song ‘Red and White’.

The festive tune was created in partnership with DJ and music producer Toddla T and the accompanying video was filmed in locations across Yorkshire.

Danny, a dad-of-six, has been dubbed ‘Santa of the North’, and told GB News about the inspiration for his song.
“With the World Cup being played in winter this year and with football with England, the country seems to go crazy a bit,” he said.
“It’s basically football and Christmas all rolled into one, and it’s about Santa bringing football home, bringing that trophy home for Christmas.”
Red and White aims to be as popular as Three Lions by Baddiel and Skinner while raising money for Mind Charity and Trussell Trust.
The causes are close to Danny’s heart, and he feels that mental health support is vital now more than ever.

He experienced his own tragedy two years ago when his partner and mother of three of his children died aged 40.
“I’ve suffered mental health issues over the last few years with losing my partner and Mind helped me out,” Danny said.
“I just think it’s good for me to be able to give back and help others, I absolutely love it and I love the fact that people love the song.
“They love me being stupid and they’re willing to pay that 99p [for the single] which then is going to go to these charities to help people in the future.”

During the Covid pandemic lockdowns, Danny shot to fame with his Rate My Takeway YouTube Channel, in which he reviews of takeaways and restaurants up and down the country – and often pulls out his trusty camping table and chair to sit at to enjoy the different dishes.
He gives his verdict of the meal, mixed in with his northern humour, and has racked up more than half a million followers.
But before this, he worked for Leeds butcher Malcolm Michaels, who also stars in the Red and White music video.
Butcher owner Malcolm told GB News: “We’ve got to do well this year, they [England] look amazing don’t they. The team’s amazing.
“Everyone’s behind them – they’ve got to do well for Danny. If they do well, the longer they’re in the competition, hopefully Danny’s song can do as much as it can for the charities that he’s behind”.
