Coldplay have paid tribute to Darius Campbell Danesh after the Pop Idol star was found dead in his US apartment aged 41.

Campbell Danesh was found dead in his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11, his family announced earlier this week.


While they added that the cause of his death is currently unknown.

Many people from the music world and beyond have paid tribute to Campbell Danesh since his death was announced.

And Coldplay were one of the latest to send a message during their sold-out show at London’s Wembley Arena on Wednesday evening.

Before closing out the show, the band’s frontman Chris Martin described Campbell Danesh as “our old friend”, while also “sending love to Darius’ family”.

He said: “We are going to send love from Wembley out to the world. We are going to send to Darius' family - our old friend Darius - and to Ukraine.”

IN a statement released earlier this week, the Campbell Danesh’s family wrote: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh. Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners’ office.

“The local police department have confirmed that there were no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances. The cause of his sudden death is unknown at this stage while medical examinations continue.

“We ask that you kindly respect our wishes for privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with the tragic loss of our son and brother.”
